Turning challenges into opportunities

Introduction
       Ending poverty, empowering women and fighting climate change are some of the sustainable development goals(SDG) that are been addressed by Africa youth bus fare.The pictures above is a skill aquisition workshop  that took place in a local community church for women an young girls.
Aim
     -  This workshop was aimed at using waste plastic bottles and transform them into beauty items for women.
     -. Give youths skills to start up small businesses.
     -  To raise the economic and financial status of young women.
     - To enable each youth to be self-sustaining even outside their local communities.
        This training was able to empower 30 youths from different denominational background on preserving the environment from plastic pollution to bangles and earrings.These youths were encouraged at the end of the training to go back and apply the skills and set up small businesses for themselves.
       Challenges
  - The need for volunteers with diverse professional background.Trainings are mostly carried out by the founders of Africa youth bus fare.
   - Limited financial resources as we aimed at supporting those willing to continue in the craft for a living.

Funded American Express Leadership Academy Program 2018 in London, Hong Kong and Singapore


                         
Funded American Express Leadership Academy Program in London, Hong Kong and Singapore has opened the application. Common Purpose has worked with American Express since 2010 to deliver its Leadership Academy programmes for not-for-profit leaders in the UK, India, Singapore and Hong Kong. They have run the American Express Leadership Academy in the UK since 2010, in Hong Kong since 2015 and in Singapore since 2017 for not-for-profit leaders from Singapore and across the wider ASEAN region. The Leadership Academy in India ran between 2011 and 2016.

  • Singapore: 3 – 7 December 2018

Skill Acquisition workshop for young girls and women in Cameroon

In collaboration with Hosanna creation,the Africa Youth bus fare will be supporting 30 young girls and women to acquire skills in manufacturing soap,home disinfectant (Izal) and Ankara (Earrings,bangles,necklace,hair bow and purse).Hosanna creation will provide the training while the Africa youth bus fare will provide funding for the training.These women will be trained free of charge.
